RBS cracks the whip
Officials from Rwanda Bureau of Standards (RBS) yesterday descended on Kinamba, Kigali where they proceeded to close a number of factories that were not in order, including Ibengeza and Idatwa maize companies.
According to Philip Nzaire, the director of quality assurance at RBS, Idatwa Super Maize Flour, for example, was packing less flour in its bags than the quantity displayed on the packaging. Ibengeza, for its part, did not meet the standards on hygiene.
The affected businesses will have to pay a fine, and take the necessary measures to improve the situation before they are allowed to operate again.
