PSF mobilizes Nyarugenge members for Agaciro Fund
Private sector members in Nyarugenge district, Kigali province last evening met in Kigali to plot for ways on how to support the Agaciro development fund (AgDF).
Hannington Namara, the PSF Chief Executive Officer told members present that it was for their own benefit to contribute to the success of the fund which has raised almost RWF20 billion from voluntary donors, since it was launched a month ago.
“In order to lead the national economy, the private sector must contribute significantly to all development activities and the growth of the economy, thus business people involvement in this initiative is basically for their own benefits,” remarked Namara.
During the meeting contributions in cash and pledges worth over RWF300 million francs were realized and will be combined with collections from other members countrywide and announced as a single contribution.
Namara revealed that PSF has started a countrywide mobilization of its members through all its organs (districts, associations and chambers) to encourage its members and all organizations and its personnel to contribute to the initiative.
PSF leaders at all levels will meet on September 28, to report on the process and decide on the day that the cheque of all private sector pledges will be officially handed over to the Fund manager.
Agaciro development fund is an initiative that aims at complementing existing financial sources to development programs by accepting flexible voluntary contributions from willing Rwandans as well as friends to play a part in the social-economic prosperity of Rwanda to accelerate financial autonomy.
