Miss Rwanda 2012 finalists unveiled
Many people stand on their beliefs that Rwanda has the most beautiful women in Africa. And when you take a look at the girls contesting to win the crown of Miss Rwanda 2012, you’ll see what those people mean – they are all beautiful.
The final 15 most beautiful women in the country were unveiled during the last Miss Rwanda 2012 press conference that took place yesterday at Serena Hotel. It was such a breathtaking moment seeing the girls walk in with such elegance, heads held high, like the renowned international models.
It is now exactly two days to the grand finale (September 1), and the girls looked more than ready to battle it out for the crown. They have been in the boot camp for two weeks now – with the final day being tomorrow August 31.
Speaking to the press, the organizers of the pageant – the Ministry of Sports and Culture in partnership with Mashirika, creative and performing arts group – could not hide how overjoyed they were. They also expressed their satisfaction at the development the girls had made.
Hope Azeda, the proprietor of Mashirika said, “The girls have been going through intense training. I believe they have made great progress and are ready to represent the country positively”.
The girls were given a chance to express themselves and many of them said they have learned a lot and it won’t stop at only that, even after the pageant they will continue to carry those same values in their everyday activities.
While at the boot camp, the ladies were taught all sorts of etiquette, how to use the runway, how to compose themselves and the confidence to portray while answering questions…
Angel Uwamahoro, trainer and head coach of the girls, says that it was not easy in the beginning considering they all came from different backgrounds but was proud to say that they have improved immensely.
“It was hard for the girls to adjust and a bit of a challenge for me as well, but they are ready and have improved greatly. I am so proud of them,” she said.
The girls explained how life is in the boot camp. “We eat very well, though it is not the diet we are used. We eat a bit less from the usual but it is okay. We have now adjusted. On the other hand it is good, especially if one is a girl because it helps tone the body,” said Aurore Kayibanda, one of the finalist.
Besides being trained to walk, talk and composure, the girls were being skilled various facts about their country. They were given study tours around Kigali. They visited Bralirwa, BRD, hospitals among other place.
Voting is still underway and the contestant with the most votes will win the title of Miss Popularity 2012. Other categories in the competition include Miss Congeniality, Miss Heritage, Miss Photogenic, Misss Innovation, the second runner up, the 1st runner up and Miss Rwanda 2012 .
Some of the prizes for the winning contestants include, among others, air tickets and accommodation to various holiday destinations, latest model phones, beauty packages and DStv decoders and the grand prize car.
Miss Rwanda 2012 is slated for this weekend on September 1 at the Expo Grounds in Gikondo from 5.30 pm. Tickets shall be on sale on that day to the public at Frw 5,000 and Frw 10,000 (for VIPs).
