As APR, Atletico draw blank

2012 Cecafa Kagame Cup

Group C

  • Atletico              0-0   APR
  • El Salam Wau   1-7   Yanga

Today’s fixtures – Group A

  • Vita Club vs URA
  • Ports vs Simba

Reigning champions Young Africans strolled to a comprehensive 7-1 victory over struggling El Salam Wau yesterday to stay on course of reaching the quarter-finals of the 2012 Cecafa Kagame Cup in Dar es Salaam.

Ugandan international Hamis ‘Diego’ Kiza scored a hat-trick while Said Bahanunzi, Stephano Mwasika and Nizar Khalfan also got their names on the score sheet.

Rufino Uras Ambros scored El Salaam Wau’s consolation.

Amavubi and former APR winger Haruna Niyonzima set up two of Yanga’s goals against the South Sudan side and can’t wait to face his former club when the two sides meet this Friday.

In Group C’s other match, APR and Atletico Olympic of Burundi played out a goalless draw to maintain their unbeaten run in the competition.

APR captain Olivier Karekezi, St Preux Lionel and Selemani Ndikumana wasted good scoring chances as did Atletico hitman Didier Kavumbagu who should atleast have hit the target with only APR goalkeeper Jean Claude Ndoli to beat.
