Junior Wasps coach Richard Tardy expects a tough challenge this afternoon.

The Junior Wasps are bracing themselves for what should be a difficult test against Nigeria’s U-20 side – the Flying Eagles this afternoon at Kigali Regional Stadium.

Both sides are using the game as a build-up to this weekend’s 2013 African Youth Championship second round qualifiers. Rwanda entertains Mali in the first leg this Saturday while the Flying Eagles take on Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Heroes on the same day in Dar es Salaam.

Last week, the Junior Wasps picked up back to back wins over the Ngorongoro Heroes; 2-0 and 2-1 but had coach Richard Tardy expects a much tougher test from the West Africans.

“It’s a big game for us because Nigeria is a very good side with plenty of quality,” he said.

The Flying Eagles jetted in yesterday and are expected to depart for Tanzania on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the winner between Rwanda and Mali over two legs will play Zambia in the third and final qualifying round later this year.

In the first qualifying round, Rwanda proved too strong for Namibia, after knocking out the latter 4-1 on aggregates.

Last year, the Flying Eagles survived a late fightback to beat Cameroon 3-2 in the final of the Africa Youth Championship title in Johannesburg.
