Skol Brewery, the brewers of Skol malt beer in Rwanda, is proud to announce that their beer has been awarded a 2012 Gold Medal by the Monde Selection International Institute for Quality Selection.

Founded in 1961, Monde Selection’s mission is to test and taste consumer products and grant them a bronze, silver, gold or grand gold quality award. According to Wikipedia, “The reliability of the institute is based on scientific analysis, the constant improvement of its tasting and testing methodologies (Sensory Analysis) and the monitoring of legal guidelines. For reasons as various as its philosophy, its experience, and the distinction its label provides, Monde Selection has forged a unique reputation in its segment.”

This is the second International Gold Award the local brewer has won for its quality standards, the first one coming in 2010.

“We know consumers of Skol malt beer have very high quality expectations so we have to be very meticulous when sourcing the best ingredients and using the best equipment for the job. We are also proud to have a very competent technical team and they are the ones that won it for us,” said Thomas Weingarten, managing director of the Skol Brewery. “This Gold award is a promise to our consumers in terms of what beer to expect, but it’s also something to be proud of as a country for producing a beer locally that is superior to many others in the same category, worldwide.”
