Skol officials have stressed that the ‘Get connected with Skol’ promotion has ended and that the grand prize, a Mitsubishi Lancer, has found a winner. The promotion might have ended almost a month ago, but some consumers are still calling its brewers asking about prizes.

“We are overwhelmed by the number of calls we keep getting from customers who think the promotion is still on, we need to emphasize that it closed, a winner was announced,” said Mark Mugarura, Skol’s head of marketing.

Mugarura says most of the callers are based in up-country areas and it’s possible that they might have missed final draw which was held in Kigali. “But that’s a good sign as it shows how the competition was a success and people want more,’ he remarked, adding that other promotions will be organized in the future.

What is more, Brasserie des Mille Collines (BMC), the brewers of Skol, is also preparing to launch a new beer. “It will be called Gatanu,” Mugarura revealed. The date of its launch is not yet set.

The move comes after Skol was recently awarded the 2012 gold medal award for the best beer from the Monde Selection International Institute for Quality Selection.
