MTN Peace Cup – ¼ finals – 1st leg

Yesterday

  • Mukura 0-0 AS Kigali

Today

  • Police     v Marines (Umuganda) 3.30pm
APR       v SEC Academy (Amahoro) 3pm
Kiyovu   v Rayon Sports (Amahoro) 5pm

Mukura and AS Kigali played out a goalless draw in the first of four quarter-final matches of the MTN Peace Cup yesterday.

There was little to choose between the two sides as they played with no real urgency for most part of the 90 minutes.

The result piled more pressure on new Mukura coach Emmanuel Ruremesha who was tasked to win the Cup when signing a short-term contract last month after parting ways with La Jeunesse.

“We had a few chances to score but did not do enough. However, we still have everything to play for in the second leg,” he defiantly said.

Action continues this afternoon when reigning champions and six-time winners APR host SEC Academy at Amahoro Stadium. This will be followed by a thrilling contest between arch-rivals Rayon Sport and Kiyovu at the same venue.

Meanwhile, at Umuganda stadium, Police will be out to settle scores with Marine.

Police, who reached last year’s final, are desperate to finish the season with a trophy after coming agonizingly close to winning this year’s Primus National League.

The first leg of the semi-finals will be played on June 27 and 28 with the return leg planned for next weekend.

The final and third place playoff will be on July 7.

Last year, APR needed penalty shootouts to lift the Cup against Police.
