MTN Rwanda has launched a new brand campaign under the slogan “We Are Better Together.”

According to MTN Rwanda’s chief marketing officer Yvonne Makolo, the new campaign is the logical successor to the previous “My People, My Country, My Network.”

She explained that MTN Rwanda was launched 13 years ago at a time when there were very few foreign investors in the country. “Over the years the company has grown with the economic development of Rwanda, introducing innovative products and services that have touched almost all aspects of lives of Rwandan people.”

Since the start of its operations in the country in 1998, MTN Rwanda has pioneered many services and products that have had a positive impact, such as the introduction of Mobile Money in February 2010.

“To date, the Mobile Money platform has registered more than 475,000 customers and transacted volumes of over FRW 67 billion since it started operations,” Makolo explained.

She further pointed out that the new brand campaign not only highlights MTNs role in every aspect of people’s lives but it also emphasizes the sense of community in the country and how life is better when people come together.

In this respect, MTN Rwanda has supported and promoted the development of sports. This year alone the company sponsored the ‘2012 Peace Cup’ soccer tournament was at the tune of Frw 51.4 million. It also supported local musicians through its involvement in the annual ‘Salax Music Awards.

In addition, MTN Rwanda has been involved in a number corporate social responsibility and community activities through the MTN Foundation, which is fully-funded by the company and receives 1 percent of its profit after tax. In this way, it has supported the Operation Smile to conduct restorative surgery on people with cleft lips, set up ICT school projects and organized the “one agent, one orphan” initiative.
