Despite the global economic crisis of 2008, which still reverberated last year, private sector investment is going strong.
It is now almost a decade since Rwanda began seriously focused efforts to attract investments into the country as a way of ensuring that the country develops. The initiative started through the creation of the Rwanda investment and export promotion agency (RIEPA) which was charged to market the country’s investment potential to attract foreign direct investments.

For the second time, the ministry of trade and industry (MINICOM) held an open day to allow people to get acquainted with its activities. According to Minister Monique Nsanzabaganwa, such a day is important in that the ministry is able to present and explain its policies and at the same time look at what has been achieved and work on what has not. Though there are many aspects where the ministry has registered achievements, such as enacting and implementing laws that govern trade and protect consumers, Nsanzabaganwa indicated that the ministry had a long way to go.
