Thanks to Belgacom ICS reach, Rwandatel’s postpaid subscribers will be able to communicate globally, with seamless interoperability between mobile networks. Moreover, partnering with a recognized leader in international mobile services such as Belgacom enables Rwandatel to improve its consumer product offering.

Prior to this launch Postpaid customers were only able to take advantage of Rwandatel’s existing bilateral agreements in Europe and Africa. With ‘Instant Roaming’, subscribers can now access more than 500 operators located across the world.

“This is a key differentiator for Rwandatel in meeting the requirements of the postpaid subscribers,” said Patrick Kariningufu, CEO of Rwandatel. He added that plans are underway to take advantage of the same agreement for the prepaid customers as well as GSM data subscribers.

“We chose this unique route as it enables us to quickly shorten the lead time it takes to achieve worldwide roaming capabilities,” added Mr.Kariningufu. The signing of the agreement between Rwandatel and Belgacom ICS, means that unlike the normal path which involved long lead times for bilateral agreements, this agreement allows Rwandatel instant access to over 500 operators located all over the world.

“This agreement confirms yet again the commitment of Belgacom ICS to mobile operators, to continuously enhance their voice and data service offering,” said Daniel Kurgan, CEO of Belgacom ICS.

Belgacom ICS is a leading global carrier of voice, data and value added services to over 500 wireless, wireline and service providers through sales offices in Brussels, Bern, Dubai, Singapore and New York.
