Raoul Shungu has no need to worry about being unemployed: three weeks after being sacked by Rayon, he can choose his pick among some eight offers. “Yet first I’m giving myself a 6-month holiday, to allow me to make the right choice,” Shungu told The Rwanda Focus.

At this moment it seems his favorite is the national team of the Republic of Vanuatu. Already when he was the national technical director of the Seychelles, he was approached in December 2006 by FIFA officials to coach the team of this tiny group of islands east of Australia. Yet then he left the Seychelles, his former club Rayon was quick to offer him an interesting contract, backed by fans clamoring for Shungus return.

Now that the love is over, Vanuatu is not the only contender. No less that seven clubs have so far courted him. “I have two clubs in Congo offering me a job, two in Burundi, two in Tanzania and one in Rwanda, but with all of them we are still in talks,” Shungu said, although he refused to name the clubs in question except for Vita FC from Congo. He said, though, that Vanuatu interested him most.

Shungu is currently a technical adviser to Amavubi in their African/World cup qualifying campaign.
