Last week MTN Rwanda launched a retailer promotion to encourage hard work amongst its sales force. Until the end of the year, MTN will be looking for winners every week, who will receive either a motorcycle or bicycle. Top MTN vendors will receive motorcycles. It will be monitored by a team from MTN supported by their franchisees and distributors. The winner will be selected based on an analysis of the sales returns. MNT’s CEO Khaled Mikkawi said that the promotion is a sign of appreciation from MTN to its customers, who have been loyal and committed to its services. “MTN is dedicated to the endorsement of better services and the satisfaction of our customers,” he said. The company’s channel distribution manager, Annie Bilenge, also explained that the promotion is meant to encourage and increase the morale for MTN vendors to score high in the trade, particularly those selling airtime and sim packs. “This will cost MTN about Frw50 million and the company has already allocated 75 motorcycles and 150 bicycles, country wide,” she said. This follows a recent fracas between MTN and its agents as a result of illegal airtime price hikes, following MTN’s calculated increase in the prices of airtime voucher cards. Twelve motorcycles and fourteen bicycles were also given to vendors during the launch. According to MTN’s events coordinator Alain Numa, these vendors have been outstanding and aim at nothing but excellence in their work.
